Marisa wants to place a rectangular carpet on the floor. A scale drawing of the carpet is shown below along with the scale used to make the drawing 

Length: 4.5 cm

Width: 3 cm                   Scale : 1cm:4 ft

 

A) What are the actual length and width of the carpet?

 

B)If a new scale drawing is made for the carpet, and it has a scale of 1 centimeter is equal to 6 feet, what would be the length and width of the scale drawing?

A) 1 cm=4 ft, 4.5 cm is 4.5*4 ft=18 ft

    1 cm=4 ft, 3 cm is 3*4 ft=12 ft

    length and width are 18 ft and 12 ft

 

B) new scale is 1 cm=6 ft

    18/6=3 cm for the length

    12/6=2 cm for the width
