Simply replace the x with (x-2). This shifts the graph 2 to the right because it causes you to have to plug in a number 2 higher than before to get the same y value.

so f(x-2) = (x-2)+8 = x+6

In addition if you wish to move a graph to the left you would replace all x's in the function with (x+2)
