Solve by factoring trinomials: 2x^2-18x-70=2

Have to zero out the 2. Please explain all the steps. There can be 2 answers

2x^2 -18x -70 = 2

x^2 -9x -36 = 0

(x-12)(x+3) = 0

x = -3, 12

factoring is trial and error

if you get stuck and can't seem to find the factors, use the quadratic formula

x = 18/4 +/-(1/4)sqr(18^2 -4(2)(-72))

= -3, 12

then take each answer, change its sign and stick an x in front them and you have the factors

x+3 and x-12

I think that it would be better for your overall comprehension of the material if you tried these other problems on your own. You can of course follow the work that I laid out in my previous two answers; that's more than fine!
