Original Equation: 12 + 2(5 - 3y) = -9(y - 1) - 2
Goal: Move y to the left side of the equation and the numbers to the right side.
1) Remove parentheses by foiling 2 and -9 into both sets of parentheses
12 + 10 - 6y = -9y + 9 - 2
2) Combine like terms on both sides
22 - 6y = -9y + 7
3) Subtract 22 on both sides
-6y = -9y - 15
4) Add 9y on both sides
3y = -15
5) Divide by 3 on both sides
y = -5
