We are given the area of the square 36 sq cm and the area of a square is Side squared we can take the square root of both and get s=6. The diagonal will be hyp. of an isosceles right triangle with the two legs having a length of 6 cm. Let h = hyp and use the pythagorean theorem
6^2 + 6^2 = h^2 square both 6s and add to get 72, then take the square root of both sides√
√72 = h which simplifies to 6√2
