Let’s look at the equation H = -2.4 t+75, this is the equation of a line given in its slope intercept form
y=mx+n, where m is the slope and n is the line intercept with the y axis.
In our case, n=75, y=H , and the slope m=-2.4
By definition, m=∆H÷∆t, it means that the unit drop rate is 2.4 meters/sec
Therefore, every 5 seconds we will have ∆t=5sec
Since ∆H=m∆t, we substitute and get ∆H=(2.4meters/sec)(5sec)=12 meters
Thus, for 5 seconds the anchor drops 12 meters.
