Effect and Affect, while they sound similar, do mean different things. Affect is a verb referring to the influence or change someone/something has on someone/something else. An Effect is a noun meaning, the outcome of consequences of something.
Example 1: Kryptonite affects Superman by making him feel weak.
vs
Weakness is the main effect Kryptonite has on Superman.
Example 2: The amount of sleep a student gets at night directly affects their level of focus at school.
vs
Lack of focus of students in school can be a direct effect of the student's lack of sleep.
