Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
guess would be puppy weight = 2n = 2 times the box weight = 2x2ounces = 4 ounces
or it could mean puppy in the box, i.e. puppy & box weight 2 ounces, then the puppy weight is less than 2 ounces, maybe 1 ounce, which would make the combined weight 2n if n = 1
must be a misprint or some other information is missing
n must refer to some aspect of the box, puppy or both their weight
generally, they try to be realistic in the problem, so how heavy are most puppies? seemingly more than 2 ounces, so 4 ounces might be the best guess
"n" often stands for natural number, 1,2,3, ... so go with an integer. maybe 4, 6, 8 or higher
often these problems are designed to end with an integer solution
"n" might also be some conversion from ounces to pounds. puppies should weigh far more than a measurement in ounces
but it's all a mystery. every answer is at most a guess.

So there are two things: the puppy and the box. Together they weigh 2 ounces (at least that's how I interpret the given information). Box + puppy = 2. I'm not sure I get the hint. Was there more information given in the question?07/31/23
