Hi Aerial,
Two dressers are placed side by side.
One dresser is 3 feet 9 inches wide,
and the other is 2 feet 8 inches wide.
Together, how wide are they?
Given:
Dresser 1: 3ft 9 inches wide
Dresser 2: 2ft 8 inches wide
Find: How wide are they together
Since the two dressers are side by side, to find how wide they are together, you would add their widths.
3ft 9 inches
+ 2ft 8 inches
_______________
5ft 17inches
12 inches are equal to 1 foot
so the 17 inches can be changed to
12 inches + 5 inches
1 ft 5 inches
So you have 5ft + 1ft + 5 inches
6ft 5 inches.
Hope this helps.. Let me know if you have any questions :)
