Your equation is
f ( x ) = − x 2 − 7 x − 5 .
Compute the following: A.) f ( − 1 ) + f ( 4 ) =
You would evaluate the function at
f(-1) This means you would substitute -1 in for x
f(-1) = -(-1)2 -7(-1) - 5
f(-1) = -1 +7 -5 = 1
Then Evaluate it at x=4
f(4) = -(4)2 -7(4) -5
f(4) = -49
Then f(-1) + f(4) = 1 + (-49) = -48
