So they are giving you the volume of the crate, which would be in the shape of a rectangular prism. The formula for the volume of a rectangular prism is V = length x width x height.
The "length x width" in the formula is the area of the base. Since they are giving us the area as 24 square meters, we can replace "length x width" with 24. We can repace the volume, V, with 120 cubic meters. We can then solve for height....
V = (length x width) x height.
120 = 24 x height
Divide both sides by 24.
We get height = 120/24, or 5 meters.
