The answer is 19! If your answer was 9, your misconception is that the problem should just be solved left to right. However, in this expression, multiplying should be solved before the addition. That would look like this:
10 + 0 + 7 + 2. Now, since there is only addition left, you would solve this left to right.
Here are the order of operation rules:
Solve and Groups ie. parenthesis, brackets, braces (in that order)
then solve any Exponents
next, multiply/divide left to right, whichever comes first.
finally, add/subtract left to right, whichever comes first.
