asked 06/16/23Q: Does there need to be an apostrophe for possession before the “s” in “others” in the following sentence?
That isn’t something I would want for me or mine (or others).
I believe I should have written “(or FOR others).” I think I might have just answered my own question: There is no apostrophe in “others” in my original sentence. Do you agree?

Hi Su,
You're right on track! In your sentence, "others" is not showing possession of anything. You are good to leave the word as-is - no apostrophes! Thanks for asking!

Thank you! At first, I thought the “mine,” being possessive, would call for a possessive apostrophe in “others.” PS Do I need a comma after “At first”? Is the period above correctly placed before the quotation mark?06/19/23
