Solve for the proportion for X

X-8/4= 5x-10/24

(x - 8)/4 = (5x - 10)/24                   Given

6(x - 8) = 5x - 10                            Multiply both sides by 24

6x - 48 = 5x - 10                             Distribute the 6

6x - 48 - 5x = - 10                           Subtract 5x from each side

x - 48 = -10                                    Simplify

x = -10 + 48                                    Add 48 to each side

x = 38
