To determine how many times Valerie needs to go the theater we'd use the following

Her total points would be equal to 1) Her sign up fee and 2) The points per visit times the number of visits.

1. Let v= the number of visits.
2. Sign up fee + (Points / visit) x visit

80 + (7.5 points/visit) • (v) = 185

7.5 v = 105

v = 14

It would take 14 visits to the theater to get a free movie.
