multiply both sides by 3 to remove fraction ( 3 * 2/3 = 2)
3 * (-2x-10) = 3 *( 2/3)(X+1)
-6X -30 = 2(X+1)
-6X -30 = 2X + 2
+6X -2 = +6X -2 add/subtract to combine like terms
-------------------------
-30-2 = 6X+2X
-32 = 8X
divide both sides by 8
-34/8 = X
-4 = X
flip order (communitive property) : X=-4
