This is a problem type that shows up frequently on Wyzant. Have you checked the archive to find similar examples to follow?
A = No. adults; H= no. high schoolers
A + H = 30, so H = 30 - A
For the dollars: 10A + 7.50 H = 275 Substitute
10A + 7.50(30 - A) = 275 Use distributive rule to eliminate parentheses.
10A + 225 - 7.50A = 275 Combine like terms.
2.50A = 50 -> A = 50/2.50
A = 20, so H must be 10.
Check: $10(20) + $7.50(10) = 200 + 75 = $275 total ticket sales.
