$4,000 cost = 115 times cost per person + hall rent

C(p) = 115p + r where 115 = slope and r = the y intercept

p = cost per person, r = hall rent

p measured on the x axis

C(p) measured on the y axis

(0,r) is the y intercept, where the line intersects the y axis

if for example r = $540= hall rent

then p = $30 per person

4000= 115(30) +540 = 3450+540= 4000

r = 4000-115p
