75 Spurs pencils. This is 30% of the pencils he bought. 24% of the pencils were Cowboys pencils. The rest are pencils with puppies on them. How many total pencils did he buy? How many Cowboys and puppy pencils did he buy?

75 Spurs pencils =30%, 24%=cowboy pencils, 100-(30+24)=100-54=46% =puppy pencils

 

proportions 

 

100/30=x/75

cross multiply

30*x=100*75

 

30x=7500

divide both sides by 30 to get x

 

x=250

 

30/100*250=75(given)= spurs pencils 

24/100*250=60= Cowboy pencils

46/100*250=115=puppy pencils
