One day the farm stand sold 5/6 of the watermelon for $5.75 each. They still have 8 watermelon left .They took in how much money selling watermelon that day?

Keeping in mind that 6/6 = 1 or the whole supply of watermelons for your problem

Let x = whole

Given (5/6)x was sold, so (1/6)x was left per the information given (1/6)x = 8

So x = 6(8) = 48

(5/6)(48) =40 so 40 were sold

40*5.75 = 230
