Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
15x^2 -2x -1
=(5x+1)(3x-1)
set each factor = 0
x =-1/5, x=1/3
the zeros are -1/5 and 1/3
those are values of x that make the polynomial =0
15x^2 -2x -1
15(-1/5)^2 -2(-1/5) -1
= 15/25 +2/5 -1
= 3/5 +2/5 -1
= 5/5 -1
= 1-1
=0
15(1/3)^2 -2(1/3) -1
= 15/9 -2/3-1
=5/3 -2/3 -1
= 3/3 -1
=1-1
=0
