A rectangular garden whose length is 7 feet longer than its width has an area of 60 square feet. Find the dimensions of the garden.

Lw=60= (7+w)w= 7w+w^2
w^2+7w-60=0
factor or use the quadratic formula
(w-12)(w-5)=0
w=5 ft, L=12 ft
w=-7/2 +.5sqr(49+4(60)
= -3.5 +.5sqr289
= -3.5 +.5(17)
=-3.5+8.5
=5 feet wide
L= 12 feet Long
