It simplifies to x - 2
Do you want to find f(x) divided by g(x)? If that is so then see below:
(x2-4)/(x+2) = f(x)/g(x)
The numerator can be factored because it is the difference between two perfect squares, you can look this up in your text or online.
(x2 - 4) = (x - 2)(x + 2) so
(x2 - 2)/(x +2) = (x - 2)(x + 2)/(x +2)
(x + 2) is in both the numerator and denominator and cancels out we are left with
(x - 2)
