if temperature is a linear function of height, then
plot two point (6,76) and (12,49) and draw a line through them with (h,t) t=temp, h=height in thousands
it has slope = (49-76)/(12-6) = -27/6
t = (-27/6)(h-6) + 76
t = -27h/6 - 27/6 +76
t(h) = -27h/6 +72.5
where h= height in thousands of feet and t= temperature in Fahrenheit degrees
