Math and science made easy - learn from a retired engineer
Well, if you are 215 miles from the border and you turn it off 35 miles before you get to the border, the distance to the "turn-off" location is 215 - 35 = 180 miles. Since you are going to be traveling at 60 mi/hr, 180/60 = 3 hours
If you turn it off 35 miles past the border, then the distance to the "turn-off" location is 215 + 35 = 250 miles. The time to that location is 250/60 = 4 1/6 hours or 4 hours 10 minutes.
So you'll have the cruise control on for between 3 hours (minimum) and 4 hours, 10 minutes (maximum)
