A rectangular pool has a width of 24 feet. A second rectangular pool has a perimeter

of 48 feet, which is 1/3 the perimeter of the first pool. What is the length of the first pool?

1st pool has perimeter = 3x48 = 144 feet= 2w+2L = 2(24)+2L = 48+2L

144-48= 96= 2L

96/2 = 48 feet = Length of 1st pool
