NeNe tripled a cookie recipe for a party. The original recipe called for 3.25 cups of sugar. NeNe tripled the sugar amount and poured it into a mixing bowl. The mixing bowl got knocked over and 2.46 cups of sugar spilled. How many cups of sugar were left in the mixing bowl?

3.25 cups of sugar in original recipe
= 3 1/4 = 13/4 cups
Nene triples the sugar: 3 x 13/4 = 39/4 = 3x3.25 = 9.75 = 9 3/4 cups of sugar
subtract 2.46 cups
9.75 - 2.46 = 7.29 cups left
