Let x = the price of danishes and y = the price of the donuts.
3x+8y=13.36
4x+4y= 8.48
Subtracting 2 times the second equation from the first equation gives:
-5x + 0y = -3.60
x = -3.60/-5 = $0.72
Substituting for x in the first equation
2.16 + 8y =13.36
8y = 11.20
y = 11.20/8 = $1.40
