son's friend's score = F=2s +3
= 2(45) +3 = 90+3
=93 = son's friend's actual score
otherwise,
if you alternatively interpret the 3 free throws as part of the 90 score, then F= 2R +3 = 90
and R =(90-3)/2 = 87/2 = 43 1/2 Regular shots which doesn't make sense. So 93 looks like the real score for the son's Friend
or maybe there's another game with free throws that gives a different answer
also, if the basketball games involved 3 pointers, it gets more complicated.
