my teacher said it wasn't a reflection but that's the only one that it looks like to me so i'm confused on what kinda transformation this is.

-3 is causing the transformation.

The negative is in front of the function so reflects it over the x-axis.

The 3 is in front of the function and >1, so it horizontally compresses it, flattening it away from the y-axis.
