Hi, it would be very helpful to see the options for this problem because solving an equation can be done many different ways correctly. With a substitution though, there are a few principles we can follow, mainly first isolate a variable on either equation. Then plug it into the other equation. The equations you provided already have the y variable isolated in both cases. in that case, we can just do the substitution. Plug what y equals into the y of the other equation. We would get:
3x + 2 = 7x - 10
From here we would use algebra to solve for x, but plugging into the y would be the first step I would take.
