5/3(6x+x^2) and (x^2)/3
are 2 fractions with LCD = 3(6x+x^2)= 18x+3x^2
but if you meant
(5/3)(6x+x^2) and (x^2)/3 then LCD = 3
= Least or Lowest Common Denominator
for a/b + c/db^2 = abd/db^2 + c/db^2 = (abd+c)/db^2
the LCD = db^2
1/6+ 1/8= 1/3(2) +3/(3)2^3= 2^2/3(2)^3 + 3/3(2^3)= (2^2+3)/3(2^3) = 7/24
LCD=3(2^3)=3(8)= 24
