The formula for volume of a sphere is V = 4/3 π r3
Let R = radius of cricket ball, then 2R = radius of basketball.
To find the ratio of the volume of the basketball to volume of cricket ball:
4/3 π (2R)3
---------------
4/3 π (R)3
Notice that the 4/3 π factors cancel out.
So we have:
8R3/ R3
The R3 cancel out so the ratio of the volumes is 8 to 1.
