y = 2x + 16

Your slope is 2, aka 2/1. Since slope is change in y/change in x, it means that every time you go right 1, you go up 2, or every time you go left 1, you go down 2.

Where to start? At your y-intercept of (0,16). If you go right 1 and up 2, your next point is (1,18). You can also go the other way to (-1,14). Draw a line through your points.
