If you replace the 8 and 3 with 0 you get 60 plus 40.

When you add them in your head, you get 100.

Now add the 8 and 3 that you replaced.

You should get 11, Correct? Now add that to your previous answer of 100.

Your answer should be 111.

In the beginning, it will be tough to keep up with the numbers in your head but you will get better with practice just like I did.
