17, 20, 24, 30, 35
sum to 126. mean = sum divided by number of data points
divide by 5 = 25.2 = mean = the arithmetic average
median is the middle number = 24, with equal data to the left as to the right
median<mean in this case
24<25.2 by 1.2
the 35 and 30 more above the mean than 17 and 20, skew the distribution to the right, making the mean slightly greater than the median.
if you want to nearest tenth, 1.2 = 1.20 which is exactly the solution, not an approximation
