pages 1 through 9 sum to 9 digits

but 10 through 19 sum to 20 digits = 2x10

then

20 through 29 another 20

1 through 29 = 9+20+20 = 49

you need another 6 to get 55

30,31,32

33,34,35 give 55

35 pages have 55 digits


go with 36 pages

You need another 6 digits, not pages. 30, 31, and 32 are 6 more digits, adding 3 pages. Isn't the answer 32? Also, you counted 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, and 36. You skipped 35.
