Let me try and help you understand this problem.
For a line to be parallel, the slope must be the same.
Equation of a line is y=mx+b where m is the slope. so we already know that our equation should start with
y=2x+b.... now lets find b.
points are listed as (x,y) coordinates. now since we have x and y, plug them into your equation and solve for the missing variable, b.
y=2x+b
4=2(7)+b ; multiply 2 times 7
4=14+b ; subtract 14 to solve for b
-10 = b
CONGRATS! you now have all you need to write the equation.
answer: y=2x-10
