Use the slope formula m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) to find the slope of each line. Then:
- if the slopes are the same, the lines are parallel
- if the slopes are negative reciprocals, which means that the product of the two slopes is equal to -1, then the lines are perpendicular
- In any other case, the lines are neither parallel nor perpendicular
I'll set up the formula for the slope of line AB, and you'll do the rest.
slope of line AB = (19 - -9)/(8 - -6) = (19 + 9)/(8 + 6) = 28/14 = 2
Now do the same for line CD, compare the two slopes and answer based on the options I described earlier.
