Instead of relying on a formula, you can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the distance. Plot the two points on a graph grid. Connect them with a line. That's your hypotenuse. Now you can draw two legs to complete a right triangle and it will be easy to work out their lengths using the coordinate of the points. Now the distance you seek is the length of the hypotenuse of your triangle.
The distance formula is based on Pythagoras' Theorem. No need to remember both.
