Our goal here is to find out how many bike outfits Tyee can purchase with his left over cash.
To do this, we first need to find out how much cash he has left. Lets call this variable 'C' for cash.
Starting amount= 720
New bike= 401.83
Each Reflectors= 12.85
Gloves= 23.83
now lets subtract all Tyee current purchases from the starting amount of 720
C = 720 - 401.83 - (4 X 12.85) - 23.83
Starting Bike 4 bike lights gloves
Using PEMDAS for order of operations, first multiply 4 times 12.85 to find the total cost of the lights.
C = 720 - 401.83 - 51.40 - 23.83
Then subtract the rest!
C= 242.94
tyee has $242.94 left!
each outfit is $40.49
Next lets set up an equation to find out how many outfits (x) he can buy.
x = c / 40.49
we know the value of c so add it to the equation
x = 242.94 / 40.49
Plug that in and we get x = 6!
Tyee can buy 6 Outfits after all the other purchases made.
dont for get to always double check your work.
