try clockwise. plot the point on some paper, then rotate the paper 90 degrees
(-1,2) is in the 2nd quadrant. after rotating 90 degrees clockwise, it's in the 1st quadrant

try counterclockwise, rotate the paper counterclockwise 90 degrees
(-1,2) becomes (-2,-1) in quadrant III.
In either case, switch the x and y coordinates
