Given
y = 3 +2x
y = -3x + 13
Then you just set the representations of y equal to each other.
y = y
3 + 2x = -3x +13
Since
3 + 2x = -3x + 13 applies since they both represent y, then you just need to find x and continue from there. Thanks for your response above moving on
3 + 2x = -3x + 13
Get the variables on one side of the equation and the constants on the other
2x + 3x = 13 - 3
5x = 10
x = 2
Checking in the original equations
y = 3 + 2x= 3 + 2(2) = 3 + 4 = 7
and
y = -3x + 13
7 = -3(2) + 13
7 = -6 + 13
7 = 7
