You were given two points, each being an "x" and an associated "y". Plug the first of these in to the equation y = ab^x

1) 17 = ab⁰ however, b⁰ will be "1" therefore a = 17

Now plug in the second point, as well as a = 17:

2) 612 = (17)b²

612/17 = b²

b = √(612/17) = 6

Therefore the equation is y = 17(6^x)
