Suppose Marcus has x number of 10$ and y number of 20$ bills.
Since the total is 340$, it implies
10x+20y=340 .........(1)
Now he has 5 more 20$ bills than 10$ bills, i.e.
y=x+5 .....(2)
substituting y=x+5 in (1), we get
10x+20(x+5)=340
=> 30x+100 =340
=> 30x=240 => x = 8
and from (2)
y=13
So Marcus has 8 number of 10$ and 13 number of 20$ bills.
