use the distributive property to remove the parenthesis on the equation: 5(x-4)+3x-9x=6

Hi Serenity B
Just multiply through first before doing any other step, remember PEMDAS
5(x-4)+3x-9x=6
To drop the parentheses first
5x - 20 + 3x -9x = 6
Can you combine like terms and continue?

The distributive property is basically when we have a something multiplying a parenthesis, it multiplies to everything inside of it.
A(B + C) = AB +AC
So in this equation it would be
5x - 4(5) + 3x - 9x =6
Now that it is distributed, we can condense and solve
-x - 20 = 6
∴ x = -26
