First, instead of x & y, I recommend that we use letters that remind us of what they represent. Let's use s for the number of bottles of soda and j for bottle of juice.
We're told that Wyatt bought 2 more bottle of juice than soda, so j = s + 2.
There's one equation.
Since each bottle of soda has 30 grams of sugar, then s bottle of soda contains 30s grams of sugar.
Likewise, all the juice has 40j grams of sugar.
The problem tells us that all the sugar has to add to 430 grams, so 30s + 40j = 430.
Therefore our 2 equations are
j = s + 2
30s + 40j = 430
