A 30 foot pipe has been cut into two parts one 4 times as long as the other.how long (in ft )is each part?

1/(1+4) = 1/5

1/5 of 30 = 6 feet

4/(1+4) = 4/5

4/5 of 30 = 24 feet

the two pieces are 6 and 24 feet long

6+24 = 30

24 = 4 x 6
