Hi! I need help with this word problem!

Question

A store owner mixes 2lb of candy that costs x dollars per pound with 3lb of candy that costs $1.50 per pound. She sells the mix for $2.50 per pound. How much did the 2lb of candy cost the store owner? If I could have some explanation as well that would be amazing! Thanks so much!

2x + 3(1.50) = 5*2.50

This is the equation you need.

2 lb @ x per pound = cost of more expensive candy

3 lb @ $1.50 per pound = cost of less expensive candy

There will be 5 lb in the mix and it is to sell at $2.50.
