Maths- sketching graphs

An arch is modelled by the relationship:

(x − 3)^2 + y^2 = 9

Information about the relationship:

• x is the horizontal coordinate along the arch

• y is the vertical coordinate along the arch

• both x and y are measured in metres

• The range of values for x are:

0 ≤ 𝑥𝑥 ≤ 6

• Disregard the negative y values

Sketch the graph of this relationship

What is the horizontal distance along the ground from one side of the arch to the other

side of arch?
